In 1939, Frank Wilhelm would begin his journey into the heating industry. He utilized his field experience and his passion to design an oil fired warm air furnace that would set a standard to which all others would be measured. In doing so, he designed and manufactured the furnace known today in the industry as the “HALLMARK”.

Begun as Crown Industries in 1949, this family owned and operated business began distributing heating products throughout the Northeastern United States. During the 1970's, Crown began a period of rapid growth with its concentration upon cast iron residential.  Payne Heating & Cooling began in 1914 when D.W. Payne and his son began building gravity-type furnaces in a converted barn in Los Angeles. A short time later, the company offered the first floor furnace that could be installed in a home’s conventional crawl space area.
